Insects are animals that have roamed the earth for at least 300 million years, so they were around way before dinosaurs.

Dinosaurs are extinct but insects are still with us, and some have changed very little since the days of the dinosaurs.

But what exactly is an insect and what features are unique to it? Once pupils determine this, they will use natural materials to help their ideas come to life.
