Litter Superheroes
Local ‘superhero’ school children were the stars of this campaign to reduce litter in Bristol. If you ever walk the streets of our city, you may see some of the heroes, capes flying, adorning our bins.
As part of the Mayor’s Clean Streets campaign: Litter Superheroes was created in order to address our litter problem. Participating children conducted litter picks to improve their neighbourhoods. Additionally, they were challenged to encourage everyone in the city to do their bit, sharing responsibility for keeping the streets clean.
To enable as many schools as possible to participate in Litter Superheroes, we developed a number of motivating resources. Essentially, the resources are free to all schools and include an assembly, an English lesson based on script writing and a film challenge. The challenge encouraged children to submit their films for a prestigious competition.
Surprisingly, litter picking is far more fun than it may first seem. Turn it into a silent disco, a ‘best find’ competition or a weird object treasure hunt and you have a great day on your hands!
As well as developing litter picking resources for schools and organisations, we also lead events: our silent disco litter pick being a favourite.
